If any of you guys
for some reason attend/are near Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, I’ll be doing comedy there tomorrow night. It would be funny to me if followers of my blog saw me live.

Tommy Johnagin on Conan the other night. If you haven’t heard his album “Stand Up Comedy,” it’s great. I bought his newer album “Stand Up Comedy 2” and I’m gonna listen to it shortly.

more good comedy news
I go to University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Our school puts on comedy shows every month where they hire touring comedians to headline in the auditorium. I guess I caught the attention of the Activities Board, so they hired myself and my comedian friend Brian Jones to open for the touring comedians every month. It pays pretty well and we’ll be working with marginally famous comedians. So...

Gary Gulman on Conan tonight
If you haven’t heard of him, this guy is the biggest name in Boston right now and he’s completely hilarious. He used to drop in to open mics that I was on. He’s hilarious. Also, if you watch and you like him, buy his CD “Conversations with Inanimate Objects” which is one of the funniest comedy albums out there. He’s recording a new one very shortly, too. Great...

My Comedy Diary: Baby's First Paid Gigs
Hey guys, just wanted to update you all with my small comedic successes. So, I worked the door at a comedy club through the summer and I got in contact with the girl who booked it to work there this Saturday. She said she’ll have to check ticket sales to see if she needs the extra help, but she asked me how much time I have because she books other shows elsewhere. I told her that I have a...

Jonas Polsky: Stand Up Comedy Advice: How To Bomb →
jonaspolsky: by Jonas Polsky It’s happening, you’re bombing. No matter what you say, or how you say it, the audience refuses to laugh. Your soul rises from your body and watches in horror as you see yourself in the spotlight, sweat beading on your forehead. With each punchline you hear nothing but a…

Performing stand up for four strangers in a dark...
I did this last week. It was supposed to be a music/miscellaneous open mic at my college, but it wasn’t advertised whatsoever and was on a friday night. Basically, one kid played guitar and then I was the next one up. There was no stage, mic stand, or lights. It was in the corner of a small room with four people watching, all of whom were members of the organization committee that set up...

Blog Post: being likable & vulnerable
As an introvert and overall shy person, it’s very hard for me to be a likable person on stage. As a comedian, I’ve been much more conversational lately- but it’s hard to win the audience over to my side. I can tell a story and have people laugh, but it’s hard to get the mood up and make people feel that they’re with me the whole time. Does that make sense? Being a beginning comedian, I figure...

Demetri Martin
Even though he’s had 2 seasons of Important Things with Demetri Martin on Comedy Central and released his book, This is a Book, I feel that Demetri Martin has been out of the limelight for far too long. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, I love Demetri. He’s hilarious. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a comedian. For example, he recently had a minor role in...
