Comedy is Weird Tumblcast #1
Listen to me while I talk about:
1. Minnesota open mics
2. a douchey comic in Minneapolis
3. Basically nothing
I was thinking I could keep making these when the need arises, and possibly do interviews in the same format. What do you guys think, should I keep making these?
Hey guys-
As some of you know, I do stand up in Boston. But, this weekend, I was in Minneapolis for a college workshop and I thought I’d check out the MN comedy scene. I stopped by the Friday night open mic at the Comedy Corner Underground.
Before the show, I met some comics who had never been there before. They were all nice, although one of them was douchey and said stuff like, “Yeah, I did an hour and a half set at my high school auditorium one time,” and “I do some shit that I know isn’t funny but people laugh so I do it anyway.”
Regardless of that guy, everyone was very kind and willing to hang out and talk before the show.
I got on fourth, which was perfect because I didn’t want to go up late and then have to catch a bus after midnight.
It was a 3 minute set, which I’ve never had to do before - but after I was done I had no idea how tight my 3 minutes was. I was quick and got my punchlines out fast. Everyone was very responsive and I got off feeling good.
Thanks, Minnesota.
